I find the trees in Mexico to be quite beautiful even if they aren't in bloom. It was the trough the horse was eating from that caught my attention.
The town of Sayulita gets the sand needed for their concrete work directly from the riverbed in the dry season so we were surprised to find water further up steam. Lots of lush foliage, lizards, birds, bird nests and strange fruit? flowers? along the way.
Two hours later we reach our destination. The highway through town is getting busier as we get closer to Semana Santa- the busiest holiday of the year for the entire country.
Birds for sale in tiny cages from both sides of the highway

This little guy appeared one day on our walk home. The owner takes pretty good care of him and keeps him in the shade whenever possible. We have taken to bringing him carrots on our way home from our day out.
Antonias restaurant is THE place to go in town for chicken mole so off we went. We chatted with the waiter about the mole, we told him it came highly recommended by friends and that we couldn't wait to try it. In the end they brought us everything we ordered except the mole! The kitchen was closed and the grandma cook was sitting down before they realized their mistake. No problem, they sparked everything up again and brought us our meal which was quite delicious.
Bowen knows how much I appreciate a nice bathroom. "you'll love the one here Mom, it's the nicest I have seen" ya right- no light, dirt floor, no toilet seat and a string and a nail to hold the door closed. Happy early April fools!
